General Terms and Conditions

Booking and Prices

These are the terms at Hotel Vágar for bookings made by individual guests, up to 9 rooms.

Special agreements may apply for group bookings over 9 rooms, and the hotel reserves the right to impose special conditions for these.

To complete a booking, we require certain information from the guest, including first name, last name, email, phone number, place of residence, and country of residence, as well as credit card information.

To guarantee the booking, the hotel may apply different rules, including a hold on your credit card.

Check-in and Check-out

Check-in begins at 3:00 PM on the day of arrival, and check-out is no later than 12:00 PM on the day of departure.
The hotel may make exceptions regarding these times.

Prices

Room rates vary depending on high and low season. Breakfast is usually not included in the room rate but can be purchased for DKK 195 (adults) and DKK 50 (children 3–12 years). This does not apply to special winter offers where breakfast may be included, as specified in the offer description.

A booking is confirmed once you have received a booking number or booking confirmation.

Sustainability Fee

As of 1 February 2026, the Government of the Faroe Islands has introduced a mandatory sustainability fee for all accommodation stays.

The fee is DKK 20 per person per night. Residents of the Faroe Islands are exempt from this fee. The sustainability fee is set by the government and supports environmental and infrastructure initiatives across the Faroe Islands.

Booking Rooms for Minors

To book a room at Hotel Vágar, you must be 18 years or older. If the guest is under 18, the person who booked the room must stay at the hotel at the same time. If the booking is for a child under 18, responsibility lies with the adult if staying in the same room as well as in a different room.

Cancellation and Payment Terms

Hotel Vágar reserves the right to pre-authorize your credit card before arrival and may charge a security deposit of DKK 250 per day of the stay if necessary.

Prices and terms on our website apply to individual bookings and are per room, per night.

Payment Terms

Hotel Vágar accepts payment by credit card or cash (DKK, EUR, USD, GBP).
Please note that invoicing and personal checks are not accepted as valid forms of payment.

VAT is included in the price.

Credit card information sent by email cannot be accepted and must be provided via phone. Hotel Vágar reserves the right to confirm that the agreed amount is available on the card.

If a credit card is used as a guarantee, the bank may temporarily hold the amount. In some cases, the hold may be released earlier; please contact the hotel with your booking number, and our team will assist you. The hotel can, via our payment provider, request the bank to release the amount. Only the bank has the authority to release held funds.

Cancellation “Early Departure”:

If you wish to leave before the booked departure date, you must notify the hotel by 11:59 AM the day before. Hotel Vágar reserves the right to charge the full amount for the entire stay in case of early departure.

Cancellation “Standard”

Cancellations are free of charge until 11:59 AM (Faroese time) the day before arrival.
If the booking is canceled after this time, or in the event of a no-show, the hotel reserves the right to charge for the first night of the original stay.

Bookings made directly with Hotel Vágar can be modified by contacting the hotel. Any changes may result in a price adjustment.

Cancellation “Non-Refundable”:

Please note that certain offers, including non-refundable bookings and bookings made through third-party websites, cannot be canceled, changed, or refunded.
Please notify us if you will not arrive.

Force Majeure

Special events beyond our control, such as bad weather, epidemics, wars, natural disasters, strikes, lockouts, fires, etc., that make it impossible for us to fulfill our contractual obligations give us the right to terminate the agreement without liability.

Conduct and Liability

Guests are expected to behave appropriately and respect hotel rules. Misbehavior may result in expulsion from the hotel. In such cases, guests remain responsible for paying for the stay, additional services, and any damages caused.
Prepayments will not be refunded. For safety reasons, access to private hotel areas is only allowed for registered guests, and no more guests may occupy a room than booked.

Smoking

Smoking is strictly prohibited. Violations in rooms or elsewhere in the hotel may result in a fine of DKK 2,000 per night where the room or hotel cannot be sold otherwise.

Pets

Pets are not allowed at the hotel, except guide dogs.

Responsibility for Belongings, Valuables, and Vehicles

Belongings can be stored in the luggage room, fridge, or freezer at the hotel, at the guest’s own risk. Valuables can be stored in the reception safe upon request. The hotel may refuse to store unusually valuable items.

Hotel Vágar is not responsible for damage or loss of vehicles or personal items left in the parking area or inside vehicles.
